Several weeks ago, I bought a dozen eggs at the store. I always buy jumbo size. I believe Food Network's Ina Garten once said to only buy jumbo eggs. I made pancakes and the first egg I broke had a double yolk. Now, that doesn't happen a lot, but I have seen it before.

Later that day, I made brownies and needed four eggs. Three of the four eggs had double yolks. Then, I made meatloaf and one of the two eggs I cracked was a double-yolk egg. Five out of seven eggs in my carton of dozen eggs had double yolks. That has to be some kind of record.

Then, I got to thinking - I wonder if that's bad luck or good luck? There had to be some sort of old wives tale about double-yolk eggs.

According to HowStuffWorks.com, it all depends on what you want to believe. One of the most common superstitions is that you or someone you know will become pregnant with twins when you find a double-yolk egg. Well, that's not going to happen. Another superstition says that a double-yolk egg means that someone in your family is about to die. In this case, I prefer to believe the Wiccan tradition which says a double-yolk egg is a sign of good fortune.

I'm very excited to see what the other five eggs in my carton will reveal and also looking forward to seeing all the good things that are about to happen to me.
