Toyota says it is recalling 2.27 million vehicles due to problems with front passenger airbag inflators.

This latest recall is basically an expansion of the April 2013 recall, involving 2.14 million vehicles because the serial numbers that the supplier had provided had been incomplete.

The defective inflators contained improperly made propellant that could cause them to work abnormally, and possibly cause fires, in case of a crash.

About 20 Toyota models, including 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, and Tundra; 2002-2004 Sequoia; and certain 2002-2004 Lexus SC 430 coupes.

If you should receive a notice from Toyota concerning this latest recall, the inflator would be replaced with a newly manufactured one at no charge to the owner.
