It's springtime in South Dakota and that means on March 12th we set our clocks ahead 1 hour for the beginning of Daylight Saving Time.

In the United States 48 of the 50 states observe Daylight Saving Time.  Only Arizona and Hawaii don't follow suit.

I've read that on the Monday after we spring one hour ahead and lose that 60 minutes of sleep we are more susceptible to having a heart attack, getting into a car accident, and are just all around crankier.

So why do we do it?  Why do we observe Daylight Saving Time?

Apparently, Daylight Saving Time became as a practice in the United States and other countries as an energy fuel saving measure.

Time.com says other countries all around the world have a Daylight Saving Time.  Germany started in 1916 while the practice first began here in the United States in 1918.

Back in 2015 there was a push here in South Dakota to end Daylight Saving Time altogether.  What do you think?  Should it stay or should it go?
