Country newcomer Jimmie Allen may be the most feel-good story since fans learned of Shania Twain's hard luck upraising. In a new docu-series called Jimmie Allen All In the Delaware native talks about striking out hard in Nashville.

Like, living in his car hard. With tears in his eyes Allen speaks candidly about what led to this dark period of his life in Ep. 4: "All I Was Left With Was Hope," exclusively premiering on Taste of Country. The owner of the trailer he was living in wanted to sell it, and Allen didn't have the money to buy it or put down first month's rent for something else. Faced with returning home and leaving his dream behind, he chose to live out of his car.

"I went a day or two without food," he admits. "I remember a guy gave me a dollar and I literally got a McChicken from McDonald's, it was a Wednesday. I ate half on Wednesday and the other half on Thursday."

Jimmie Allen's Live RISERS Performance Is Irresistible

During the first three episodes of All In the "Blue Jean Baby" singer talks about how broke he was when he moved to town. He had $21 and no plan. Winter in the car was tough, but real hunger led to symbolic hunger. He started to figure out how badly he wanted to live this country music dream and began to dedicate himself in unimaginable ways. Allen says if he wasn't at the gym where he worked, he was at songwriter nights around town.

Family and friends from Milton, Del., pop up throughout the planned six-part docu-series. Each of the next two episodes will also debut on Taste of Country. Now signed to Broken Bow Records' Stoney Creek Records, Allen will announce new music very soon. The artist to watch and 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival performer mixes country, rock, pop and R&B to create a sound that's familiar, but very unique.
