Go Back And Remember A Legendary Country Music Duo, The Wilburn Brothers

They came out of Hardy, Arkansas and the brothers began performing together as kids in the 1930's.  Doyle was the oldest, born in 1930.  Brother Teddy followed closely, born in 1931.

Teddy and Doyle became known to the country music world as The Wilburn Brothers.

They first hit the national country music chart in 1954, joined by Webb Pierce for the Top 5 hit 'Sparkling Brown Eyes'.  Seven more Top 10 hits came in the 1950's, but it was the 60's when the Wilburn Brothers really hit their country stride.

The boys charted 18 times in the 1960's, many of which became Top Ten hits, including 1962's 'Trouble's Back In Town'.

The Wilburn Brothers were long time Grand Ole Opry members and had their own very successful syndicated television show into the early 1970's.

So whatever happened to the Wilburn Brothers?

Doyle passed away from cancer at the way too young age of 52 in 1982.  Teddy continued as a solo artist at the Opry until his death in 2003, six days shy of his 72nd birthday.

The brothers are buried in Nashville.
