Even though St. Patrick's Day observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, it has become a day to celebrate Irish culture with parades and green beer. St. Patrick's Day is a day when everyone is Irish if they want to be.
Several events are planned around Sioux Falls this weekend to celebrate.
Enjoy music from the Ceili Band from 7:00 - 9:00 PM on Thursday, March 16.
McNally's opens at 8:00 AM on Friday, March 17 and will serve breakfast until 11:00 AM. Ceili Band will play from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and Dakota District Pipes and Drums will perform at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, March 18, Ceili Band will play at McNally's from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
5:00 - 7:30 PM. Dakota District Pipes and Drums, Ceili Band and Celtic Steps will perform throughout the evening. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is free.
Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 AM there will be the reading of the Proclamations, the painting of the Shamrock, Khartum Temple Pipes and Drums playing music and the crowing of Miss Shamrock at 9th and Phillips and First National Bank.
The parade starts at 2:00 PM in downtown Sioux Falls at 13th and Phillips and travels north to 5th and Phillips.
Saturday, March 18 at the El Riad Shrine in downtown Sioux Falls. Doors open at 11:00 AM. Free admission all day. Reserved tables available. Green beer, food and fun.

Saturday, March 18:
Beer Pong Tourney. Free to play with cash and prizes awarded to 1st and 2nd. Sign up by 2:30 and the tourney starts at 3:00.
50 cent taps from 3:00-7:00 PM
$3 Irish car bombs, Jameson Irish Whiskey drinks and Guinness taps from 8:00-11:00 PM.
Friday, March 17 at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort. The Johnny Holm Band will play a free show in the Lounge. The band will play from 8:30 PM – Midnight. Get there early if you want a seat.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day a few days late at Calico Skies Vineyard and Winery. On Sunday, March 19, Calico Skies hosts Sunday Sips and Swings. This Sunday is music from the Celtic trio, Trefoil from 2:00-5:00 PM.
