A 14-year-old South Dakota student has been arrested in Watertown for making terroristic threats against his school.

The juvenile male was taken into custody on Friday, May 6, 2016, after authorities say he told a group of students he was going to return with friends and "shoot up the school."

Watertown police say the young man left the Great Plains Lutheran High School around noon on Friday, just after making the threatening comments to fellow students.

Multiple agencies helped conduct the search for the student. He was later found walking in the area and was detained for further investigation.

According to authorities at no time were any people at the school or other area schools in danger during the course of this investigation.
