Want to Be a Minnehaha County Commissioner? A Spot is Opening Up
Would you like to be a Minnehaha County Commissioner? This may be your chance.
Commissioner John Pekas was elected in November to be a judge in the Second Judicial Circuit, and he is expected to resign his seat as a Commissioner on or before December 31.
When that happens, Assistant County Administrative Officer Robert Wilson says the responsibility to appoint a replacement will rest with the remaining four Commissioners and the County Auditor.
Wilson says a number of individuals have expressed interest in filling the commission vacancy. The person who is appointed will serve for the remainder of the four-year term that will run through December 31, 2016.
Any county resident who would like to be considered for appointment to the vacant commission spot should submit a resume and letter of intent to the Minnehaha County Commission Office at 415 North Dakota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
Wilson says everyone who submits a resume and letter will receive written confirmation from the commission office along with other information about a commissioner's duties and responsibilities.
If you have additional questions, you can contact Robert Wilson at the Minnehaha County Commission Office, at (605) 367-4206.
