MIDLAND CITY, Ala. - A law enforcement official says a 5-year-old has been safely released after a weeklong standoff between police and the boy's abductor.
Police Lt. Don Everson told KDLT that a suspect had assaulted a woman and then retreated to a bedroom when officers arrived. The man then turned a shotgun on himself.
According to Public Information Officer Sam Clemens of the Sioux Falls Police Department a standoff with a suspect in the 1800 block of East 3rd Street has ended.
When I learned that the shooting victim was 24 year old Amanda Connors, the manager of Cost Cutters, it hit me right where I live. Mind you, I never knew Amanda, but what I am learning since yesterday makes me wish that I did. You see, it has affected me because my wife Lori owns and operates a beauty salon downtown. My daughter Erin is 24 years old, the same age as Amanda.
Sioux Falls Police Captain Greg VandeKamp held a news conference on Tuesday to lay out the sequence of events that led to the death of two people at the Cost Cutters on West 41st Street.
