South Dakota Prison Inmate, 59, Dies

A South Dakota prison inmate has died.

Officials in the Department of Corrections say 59-year-old Leo Christensen became ill on Tuesday at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. He was transported by ambulance and later airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he died Wednesday.

The DOC says Christensen was sentenced out of Minnehaha County in February 2003 to 50 years in prison for first-degree arson.
