If you like car culture as much as I do, then you probably have heard of Jessi Combs.  She was considered the 'Fastest Woman On Four Wheels'.  She earned that title in 2013 when she hit 398 miles per hour in a jet powered car.  In 2016, she broke her own record with a run of 477 miles per hour.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in the Alvord Desert in Oregon, Combs, 39, was attempting to break her own record when the unthinkable happened and she was killed during the attempt.

Combs was a native of Rockerville, SD.  She graduated from Stevens High School in Rapid City and WyoTech.  She was an accomplished mechanic, metal fabricator, racer and television personality.

When she wasn't racing, she could be seen on TV as co-host of the shows Xtreme 4x4, All Girls Garage and Overhaulin' as well as appearing on 12 episodes of MythBusters.

According to the Harney County Sheriff's office, "The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and is currently being investigated."
