The University of South Dakota was left with an open in the schedule for 2016 when California bolted for a game in Australia. They've found a new game in New Mexico.

USD will open the 2016 season by traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico to face the University of New Mexico Lobos. The game will take place on September 3, 2016.

New Mexico finished 5-3 last season and averaged 252 rushing yards per game. This will be the first meeting between South Dakota and New Mexico, and the first of three non-conference games for the Coyotes.
