Halfway through the 77th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally the South Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the number of accidents are up and the number of drug related citations are down from last year.

In a report of incidents in and around the Rally from from 6:00 Saturday, August 5 through 6:00 AM Tuesday August 8 there were 87 drug-related arrests compared with 103 by the same time last year.

DUI arrests, however, were up; 74 this year compared to 66 last year. Injury accidents were up too; 30 this year and 19 in 2016.
