Bragging rights for the first team in the league to amass 20 wins this season goes to the Sioux Falls Skyforce defeating the Los Angeles D-Fenders 118-113 at the NBADL Showcase.

Patrick Miller and Briante Weber were able to either penetrate and finish or find to open teammates offensively. Then add the lengthy Luis Montero defensively on the perimeter and the Skyforce (20-6) on this night were able to neutralize the tandem of Josh Magette and Vander Blue.

Sioux Falls led by 11 early in the second quarter before the game was all square at half. Los Angeles (19-6) built lead of 8 in the third quarter but the ‘Force rallied on a 12-1 run to lead heading to the fourth. The lead never changed hands again, but the Skyforce could only push the lead to six before the D-Fenders provided an answer.

Miller’s collective point total in the two Showcase games tallied 59 with Thursday’s 29 versus the Reno Bighorns and Saturday’s 30 with 8 assists being successive career highs. Weber was close behind against the D-Fenders with 28 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Keith Benson had the middle covered with 24 points, 15 boards and 3 blocks with Montero snagging 9 rebounds with 4 steals.

The league’s third best scorer in Blue tallied 28 to lead 5 D-Fenders in double figures. Magette is the leading assist man in the NBADL and dished out 14 dimes with 19 points.

Another encounter looms between these two teams on Thursday (January 26). Before then Sioux Falls will face Reno on Wednesday and Los Angeles will tangle with the Texas Legends in their second showcase game.
