A Sioux Falls man has been sentenced for housing prostitutes according to Federal Attorney Randolph Seiler.

Eric Sims, age 47, was sentenced to 21 months in custody, with 5 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Sims provided lodging to those engaging in prostitution in Sioux Falls. A co-defendant, Michael Dickey, was separately tried and sentenced for transporting prostitutes from Minnesota to South Dakota and posting ads for sexual acts on backpage.com

Sims was indicted for Sex Trafficking in October 2015 and pleaded guilty to transportation for prostitution charge a year later in October 2016.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Sioux Falls Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case.

Sims was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
