Engaging in sexting is a dangerous activity for teens! It can have adverse side effects and the consequences can be life-long. Sioux Falls counselor Jason Van Ruler put it this way during an interview.

"Yes sexting has become an increasing problem for teens. They don't really think it through when they're in that moment. They send it and fail to consider the consequences which are pretty serious. It does not go away."

VanRuler says the internet can be dangerous to teens.

"I remember when I was growing up you had to drive somewhere to get pornography or go purchase a video or magazine. Now, we can look at pornography on our cell phones, and our tablets. That's becoming more of an issue with teens as well."

New research shows that approximately twenty to thirty percent of teens have sent and/or received a text.

Sexting is sending, receiving or forwarding sexual photos or suggestive messages through text message or email.
