Sioux Falls Police officers are searching for four vehicles in the city that were ripped off by thieves.

"Of the four stolen vehicles all occurred in the last 24 hours in Sioux Falls," Police Lt. John Duprey told us. "I hate to preach but, here are the facts: of those four vehicles, all four were unlocked, all four had keys in them and one of them was running."

In an effort to protect your vehicles, Duprey offers this advce.

"I realize right now it's hot out, but you're making it easier for somebody to make away with your vehicle by leaving the keys in there and leaving it unlocked or leaving it running is not helping the situation."

The FBI reports that every 28 seconds, a vehicle is stolen in the United States.
