Former Sioux Falls Weatherman Shakes Up The Bourbon Scene

Every once in a while, I like a bit of bourbon. A couple of my co-workers turned me on to it — the nuance, the notes, how every brand (and even every bottle) hits just a little different. Am I a bourbon freak? No. But sometimes… kinda close.

The other day, I stumbled across yet another bourbon video on YouTube and thought, why not? A few seconds in, I realized, hey, that’s Brandon Spinner! The same Brandon Spinner who used to do weather right here in Sioux Falls on KDLT. He's now in Ohio, but you can catch his whiskey vibes on YouTube.

When he was on TV, I was a fan. I also paid attention to how he handled his social media — especially Twitter and Facebook. The guy knew how to work the algorithm, get clicks, and keep people watching.

So, what’s Spinner up to these days? Well you might say he’s been hitting the bottle. But not like that. He’s got a YouTube channel called Whiskey Weather, and it’s pretty slick.

I watched his video on 'Skipping 10 Overhyped Bourbons,' and his glib, fast-talking style was in full swing. His production skills shine through too — clearly, he knows his stuff both in front of and behind the camera.

I always knew Spinner could deliver the forecast. Turns out, he’s forecasting something new these days — good whiskey. And judging by his energy, wit, and love for the juice, I’ve got a feeling he’s gonna do just fine.
