News broke back in March that the company that owned the South Dakota Gordmans stores was in the process of filing for bankruptcy, and it looked like at that time as if it was going to be curtains for the Gordmans location at the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls.

KDLT News is now reporting that U.S. Bankruptcy court documents filed from over the weekend show both the Sioux Falls and Rapid City Gordmans stores will remain open for the foreseeable future.

Gordmans still, however, plans to close 48 of their 105 stores nationwide.

The decision to close a large number of Gordmans locations was made when the company declared bankruptcy in March of 2017, after posting losses in 5 of the last 6 quarters.

Stay tuned Gordmans shoppers. The ultimate decision regarding the long-term future of the South Dakota Gordmans stores rests in the hands of the Houston-based Stage Stores, which acquired Gordmans in a bankruptcy auction.
