Here's a fun activity for the aspiring home builder.

The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire is seeking students from Pre-K through 5th grade to participate in the second annual Building Block Competition.

The event is Saturday, February 22, at the 2020 Sioux Empire Home Show. This is a fun way to introduce young students into the home-building industry and help build our community’s future construction workforce.

Students will build a home using a set of building blocks.  Students will be divided based on school grades and their homes will be judged based on creativity, structure, and livability.

The winning student from each of the competition levels will win $50 cash and a medal. Student registration in the competition is free.

One adult admission into the Sioux Empire Home Show is included with student registration in the building block competition.

Parents can register their student online for free here or call (605) 361-8322. Space is limited to the first 160 students (40 per grade) on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline for applications is January 31, 2020. Once selected, the student’s parents will be contacted by email and invited to the competition.

The Sioux Empire Home Show will be held on February 21-23, 2020 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Arena. For more info, visit hbasiouxempire.com.
