Ronnie Milsap Had a Career Making Hit with ‘It Was Almost Like a Song’, Meet the Guys Who Wrote It

Ronnie Milsap already had seven number one songs by the time 'It Was Almost Like A Song' was released in 1977, and was already well onto his way to what would become a Country Music Hall of Fame career. But this was the hit that Ronnie has called a 'career maker'. I've always thought Ronnie had at least two signature songs, this one along with the great sing-a-long classic 'Pure Love' (which by the way was written by the late great Eddie Rabbit).

'It Was Almost Like A Song' was not only a chart topping country hit, it was a top twenty pop/rock hit, a top ten adult contemporary hit and was played worldwide. Quite an accomplishment for one of country music's greatest stars.

But who wrote this massive smash?

Well, it was co-written by a couple guys that the general public may not remember, but the music industry certainly does.

Hal David and Archie Jordan.

Hal David is best remembered as the lyricist who worked so legendarily with Burt Bacharach on so many classics like 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head', 'This Guy's In Love With You', 'Do You Know The Way To San Jose' and dozens more. If you remember the great hits by Dionne Warwick, you remember the magical words of Hal David.

Archie Jordon is a songwriting legend in his own right. He co-wrote the Ronnie Milsap great classic 'Let's Take The Long Way Around the world', and wrote another Milsap smash hit 'What A Difference You've Made In My Life'. Oh, and didn't you love Sylvia's great classic 'Drifter'? Yep, Archie co-wrote that one, too along with many others.

In other words, Ronnie's career making hit was written by two of the greatest songwriters of the past 50 years.
