Statistics show that we have some of the most generous and caring people in the country. A 2015 WalletHub study indicated South Dakotans donate more money and time to charity than the majority of other states in the country. There are only 4 other states with citizens who do more.

So it is no surprise that the Red Cross here in Sioux Falls and Southeastern South Dakota is already sending volunteers to assist people in the path of Hurricane Matthew. If you have a desire to pitch in during this devastating time for communities along the southeastern U.S. coast, the Red Cross is offering an intensive training course for potential responders.

Classes begin at 9 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Red Cross office located at 808 West Avenue North here in Sioux Falls. You don't need to call in advance, you don't need to RSVP, just show up and be prepared to learn!

If you complete this course you will be eligible for a 14-day deployment with the Red Cross where you will be helping people in great need. You'll also be prepared to help people in our immediate area, if you're called upon.

For more information about these classes or any other questions you may have, please call 605-336-2448 ext. 2323.
