If you haven't heard his incredible story take a minute to meet Senator Billie H. Sutton. He is one of the featured storytellers at REACH Literacy 5th annual Brewhaha.

Billie grew up on the family ranch Northeast of Burke. He graduated from Burke High School in 2002 and attended University of Wyoming in Laramie on a full ride Rodeo Scholarship.
Billie College Rodeoed for the University of Wyoming for four years and in 2005 he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). Billie had a very
successful collegiate rodeo career qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo all four years.
In 2005 he won the PRCA Badlands Circuit Rookie of the Year and the PRCA Badlands Circuit Finals Average in 2006. Billie’s rodeo career was cut short in October of 2007 due to a Rodeo accident while competing at the circuit finals in Minot, North Dakota.
Billie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from the University of Wyoming in May of 2008. In August of 2010 Billie joined First Fidelity Bank as an Investment Consultant.
Billie was elected to the State Senate in 2010 and is now serving his third term in district 21.
Billie is currently the Leader of the Senate Democrats. Billie is married to Kelsea Kenzy Sutton of Burke, SD, who is a practicing attorney in Gregory County.
His story will be about the journey of being confined to a wheelchair through a rodeo accident. It will revolve around the plans that he had for his life prior to the accident and how his plans changed after the accident.
