It's one of those health issues that can totally sneak up on you because the symptoms can be associated with other illnesses too.

The National Kidney Foundation/Dakotas indicates that kidney disease is estimated to affect more than 37-million Americans, the majority of whom don't know. One in three American adults is at risk for it right now.

Risk factors include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Heart disease
  • Family history of kidney failure

Additionally -

People of African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander descent are at increased risk for developing the disease.  African Americans are three times more likely than Whites, and Hispanics are nearly one and a half times more likely than non-Hispanics to develop end stage renal disease (kidney failure).- National Kidney Foundation

Every year March is National Kidney Month. This year the National Kidney Foundation/Dakotas is teaming up with local brewing company, Woodgrain, to bring even more awareness to kidney disease and the more than 100,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant.

In case you didn't know orange is the color associated with National Kidney Month and Kidney beans are actually named after kidneys. So- -Woodgrain Brewery's special brew is called "Spare Bean Pale Ale" and its flavor profile is enhanced with orange.

The hope is that people will think about sharing one of their "spare beans" with one of the thousands of people waiting for a kidney.

We invite the public to join us for the beer release on World Kidney Day, March 10th, 2022, starting 3pm at WoodGrain Brewing Company. We are asking those who join us for the beer release to wear orange to help us celebrate and bring awareness to World Kidney Day.- -Gene Dickey, Executive Director - National Kidney Foundation/Dakotas

See Some of Sioux Falls' Beautiful Murals [PHOTOS]

I was in Canton, SD, and I happened upon a new mural.

It was really cool and that got me thinking that I know of a few murals in Sioux Falls, but I bet there's more than I realize. So, I put it out on social media for the people of Sioux Falls to tell me where all the murals are!

A few of them I had never seen, or never even been to that part of town, and a few of them, I drive by all the time and never noticed!

I know a few businesses have murals inside their establishments, but I decided to keep it to murals that are totally open for the public to see. No need to be 21!

So, here we go! Let's check out some of Sioux Falls' murals.
Did I miss one? Let me know!
