Hunter Widvey, 17, of Rapid City was crowned Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen Saturday June 4, 2016. She sang a classical song by Mozart, “Als Luise Die Briefe” for her talent, and was the winner of the talent award. Her parents are Brett and Cami Widvey.

First runner-up was Lizzie Anderson of Custer, second runner-up was Anneliese Taggart of Vermillion, the third runner-up was Amber Hulse of Hot Springs and fourth runner-up was Jessica Benson of Rapid City.

Shelby Specht of Sioux Falls won the Patriotic Essay Award. Rachel Black of Rutland won the Academic Scholarship. Karli Soyland of Sioux Falls won the Producer’s Scholarship. Four contestants tied for Miss Congeniality: Taggart, Soyland, Alexandra Licht of Rapid City, and Elizabeth Hofer of Bruce.

Widvey will represent South Dakota at the 2016 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Florida, August 2-6.
