At any given time, Luke Bryan has countless balls up in the air. From the upcoming opening of his new venue in Nashville, to his current stadium tour, to preparing to get back to filming the second season of American Idolsuffice to say that this boy from Georgia has much to keep straight in his head.

So how does he do it, especially while also managing his equally important roles as a husband and father?

“It’s always about communicating," says Bryan in a radio interview before his performance at last weekend’s Country Thunder live event in Twin Lakes, WI.

“There are a lot of moving parts. You knock it out of the park some days—and other days, I try to sneak in a hunting trip and I kinda know its not the thing I should have done," he admits, laughing. "We are good about sitting down and working it out a little bit.”

Bryan admits that he's looking forward to sitting back down at the American Idol judging table alongside fellow stars Lionel Richie and Katy Perry. “Yep, I’m excited,” he says. “I had a good time doing it. It was fun. It was fun watching the kids compete."

However, he's also quick to acknowledge that the show is a whole lot of hard work. Still, he loves what he does.

“The auditions are about 12, 13 hours and they are long but they are fun,” Bryan notes. “It’s so exciting because you are giving people tickets to Hollywood and all that, so it flies by. We are locked in and focused on what we are doing."

There's a light at the end of the tunnel for Bryan and his hardworking cohorts, however: "When we get to live recordings, those are only two hours, so after two months of 12 hour days when we get to lives, it’s like it flies by and you don’t even know it. It’s like you are on vacation.”
