True to his laid-back personality, Luke Bryan doesn’t have high expectations when it comes to Father’s Day. The artist shared at CMA Fest that leading up to the holiday, he’s not making a list of things he’d like his family to do for him.

“As long as I get to be with my family on important days, whether it’s birthdays or anniversaries — certainly Father’s Day or Mother’s Day — that’s all I need,” he says.

“Just let them make me a cup of coffee in the morning and I’m happy,” Bryan adds with a smile. He may get more than that anyway, though. Bryan says his wife is known for her over-the-top celebrations.

“If it were up to her, every moment like that would be fireworks, and balloons, cakes and all that,” he explains.

The family is coming up to his show that night, he says, and they will spend time together for a couple of days. Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have two boys, Bo and Tate, and they also took in their nephew, Til, after the deaths of Bryan’s sister and her husband.

Bryan is currently on the 2016 leg of his Kill the Lights Tour and recently performed at the CMT Awards as well as CMA Fest, where he held a moment of silence out of respect for those who passed away during the Orlando massacre last weekend. He addressed the crowd with a somber comment about the tragic events, and then 55,000 people fell silent.

“Something has been real heavy on my heart tonight,” Bryan said, pausing mid-song. “I want us to take a brief moment of silence and think about all those families that have been affected in Orlando, Florida, in what happened in our great nation last night. Let’s take a moment of silence and pray for all the families and everybody affected.”

The Kill the Lights Tour, which includes Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch, runs through early October.
