On Saturday (Sept.8), the George Dickel Porch Sessions in Tullahoma, Tenn., introduced a new flavor from across the pond. No, not Dickel’s debuting Belgian-style Quad beer (that’s made in America) — but rather British country music newcomer Lucie Silvas.

Silvas has been making waves as a new breed of country music star, blending blues, country and rock with a fiery onstage personality. She kicked off this live appearance with "Kite," the edgy mid-tempo lead track from her 2018 E.G.O. album. The lyrics reflect a free, gypsy attitude that Silvas carried the entire show. However, much like E.G.O., Silvas’ concert was a reflection of her hard and soft edge.

When she’s leading the band, standing in front of the mic, she’s confident and in control. When she decides to sit behind a keyboard, she’s raw and delicate. The show’s foundation isn’t based on a party vibe, but rather an intimate musical experience.

Silvas sounded nearly identical to her records, offering songs from E.G.O. and other throwback tunes from her 40-plus song catalog to the crowd. She also added a stunning cover of the Jackson 5's "Who's Lovin' You," to overwhelming approval.

Silvas' laid-back setlist fit well with the backwoods vibe of fans chilling in lawn chairs, enjoying one of the last summer nights in Tullahoma. The George Dickel Porch Sessions — an annual, summer-long music series that launched in 2017 — is expecting one more TBA country music performer in October.

Besides, Silvas, the Porch Sessions have hosted artists like Jon Pardi, Maddie and Tae, Frankie Ballard, LoCash and more. Fans can find ongoing updates and purchase upcoming tickets via dickelporchsessions.com.
