Little Big Town are celebrating females who take their own paths in the new video for their latest single, "The Daughters."

The new video intercuts footage of dancers with scenes of a teenage girl who just does not fit into an old-school etiquette class, in which a classroom full of young ladies are being taught how to conform to society's expectations for them. In the video above, she shows little interest in the prim and proper pursuits deemed appropriate for her, preferring playing outside to learning how to apply lipstick and choosing basketball over cheering from the sidelines.

As the clip progresses, it becomes clear that she's going to try to shake off the norms that have been laid out for her and go her own way. It's a perfect visual accompaniment to the emotional lyrics to "The Daughters," which lament the way women are supposed to "pose like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for everyone but not yourself / I've heard of God the Son and God the Father / I'm just looking for a God for the daughters."

"The Daughters" is the first single from an as-yet-unannounced new project that Little Big Town will release in 2019. The new music marks the first time the award-winning vocal quartet have produced their own music.

Little Big Town debuted "The Daughters" in a stunning live performance at the 2019 ACM Awards on April 7 that was one of the biggest viral moments of the evening.
