Legendary and controversial radio host Don Imus passed away on Friday morning in Texas at the age of 79.

The cause of death was not immediately given but he was, according to The Hollywood Reporter,  hospitalized on Christmas Eve.

Imus made the most of his talents hosting radio shows across America since the '70s. He was one of the first to garner the "shock jock" label as his show stunts and opinions often fueled controversy.

His last show was broadcast on March 29, 2018. His show was also broadcast on KSOO - AM in Sioux Falls including a stop in the studio to host "Imus on the Road Live" in 2011.
