As his current single “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home” reaches the Top 15 of the Billboard country music charts this week, Justin Moore admits that the wait to get to the top can drive him and his country music counterparts a tad batty.

“Yeah, it drives all of us crazy,” Moore laughs during a recent interview with Taste of Country about the often slow-rising nature of the country music charts. “It drives the artists crazy and the labels crazy. But you just try not to think about it too much when you have a special song that you know will find its way. Those songs don’t come along very often.”

And yes, Moore is cautiously optimistic that “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home” is one of those special songs.

“Those No. 1s take awhile but it also provides for me and my family,” says Moore, who released his new album Late Nights and Longnecks on July 26. “Having a number one song and a hit record speaks volumes. It means it's actually finding people.”

Moore should know. Throughout his career, the Arkansas native has found his way to the top of the charts seven times with songs such as "You Look Like I Need a Drink,” Somebody Else Will,” “Point at You,” “Lettin’ The Night Roll,“Small Town USA,“If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” and “Till My Last Day.”

But yes, he’s had to be patient.

“My songs have always taking longer to go up on the charts than other people’s songs," he concludes. "As long as they get up there and people really hear them, that’s all that matters.”
