This wasn't on my Bingo card for today.

It's not that unusual to see weird things at the grocery store. Besides people in their most raggedy set of pajamas, there could be odd food combos or things thrown where they don't belong.

And I guess that's what you could call this situation at an Aldi in Chicago's Humboldt Park.

It Wasn't A Rat

Monday morning, around 9:45 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of North Kedzie. There was some kind of animal wedged in the produce shelves at Aldi. It wasn't a rat, possum, or anything like that. Instead, it was a coyote. This dude:

Here's the good news: the coyote is okay, it was safely removed, and is about to go to a wildlife rehabilitation center. It will be assessed to make sure it's uninjured and okay before it goes back out into the wild.

No injuries were reported in the accident according to Chicago Police, but it's still pretty wild to watch.

Coyote mating season is now through March, so the animals are really active, obviously even outside of their normal wooded areas.

Experts remind you to be on the lookout for them. As for the Aldi stowaway, there's no word on how it snuck into the produce shelves.
