When you last went to a movie - or streamed it at home, did you watch the credits? Many of us watch the first minute or so of them to see if we recognized all the actors, or perhaps couldn't figure out who played someone in the film.

But unless you watch all of the credits, or Google info on the film, you may never know where it was filmed.

While almost every American movie has some filming in Hollywood, either during production or post-production, there have also been several movies filmed, at least in part, in Iowa!

I bet a couple on our list you didn't know were filmed here!

Movies You May Be Suprised Were Filmed in Iowa

Okay so first off, we all know that Field of Dreams was almost entirely filmed here in Iowa, with the actual site being a major attraction, and newsmaker to this day. Also, we all know (I think) the terribly mediocre Ed Helms movie Cedar Rapids, was NOT filmed in Iowa, let alone in CR.

While Field of Dreams is on our list, it kinda has to be, several movies on this list will surprise you, I have no doubt!

Thanks to Stacker for helping compile our list, scroll down to see movies filmed in the Hawkeye State, and reach out if I/Stacker missed any.

As you check out the list, remember that some of these movies have very little Iowa. In fact, the first movie on the list, About Schmidt, was almost entirely filmed in Nebraska, with one short scene being shot in Iowa.

Let's dive in!
