The Iowa State Fair's Grandstand schedule is filling up! Just this morning (February 21st), the fair announced two more acts that have been added to the 2024 lineup. The first is a comedian, and the second is a popular folk-rock band.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, aka Fluffy, is set to take the Grandstand Stage on Thursday, August 15th at 8 p.m. Gabriel has had a number of popular stand-up specials over the years, including Hot and Fluffy in 2007, I'm Not Fat... I'm Fluffy in 2009, Aloha Fluffy in 2013, I'm Sorry For What I Said While I Was Hungry in 2016, and One Show Fits All in 2019. His latest special, Stadium Fluffy, was released in 2022. Gabriel is also an actor/voice actor, with roles in TV shows and movies like Narcos, Modern Family, Magic MikeSpace Jam: A New Legacy, and The Santa Clauses.

On Friday, August 16th, The Avett Brothers are set to play the Grandstand at the Iowa State Fair beginning at 8 p.m. According to Wikipedia, the popular band combines "bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, indie rock, honky tonk, and ragtime." The Avett Brothers have released ten studio albums since 2022, with the latest, Closer Than Together, debuting in 2019. They have also been nominated for three Grammys in Americana and American Roots categories. The 90s alternative hip-hop band G. Love & Special Sauce will open the show.

Tickets for Gabriel Iglesias run from $35 to $65 and tickets for The Avett Brothers are anywhere from $35 to $70. They will officially go on sale this Friday, February 23rd at 10 a.m. at or by calling 1-800-514-3849.

Tickets for all the other announced Iowa State Fair concerts for 2024 are already on sale! The lineup include:

  • Foreigner with special guest Melissa Etheridge - August 9th
  • Jelly Roll with special guest DAX - August 10th
  • Thomas Rhett - August 13th
  • Mötley Crüe with special guest Pop Evil - August 14th
  • NE-YO with special guest Eric Bellinger - August 17th
  • KIDZ BOP LIVE 2024 Tour - August 18th

The final two 2024 Grandstand shows will be announced early next month.

The area would get the name 'Arnolds Park' in 1882, but it would be seven more years before the first attraction, a wooden waterslide, was built and the amusement park would open. More than 130 years later Arnolds Park Amusement Park is still going strong and is one of the longest operating amusement parks in the world.
