9 Injured in Southwestern Minnesota School Bus Crash
Seaforth, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in southwestern Minnesota are investigating an injury crash involving a school bus.
The Redwood County Sheriff's Office says the collision between the school bus and a pickup truck occurred at a rural intersection just south of the town of Seaforth, which is located about 10 miles west of Redwood Falls. The crash was reported around 8:15 AM Wednesday.
A news release on the incident says the bus was transporting students for the Wabasso School District and was being driven by 72-year-old Edward Aslesen of Milroy. The Sheriff's Office says the preliminary investigation found the school bus failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection.
The driver of the pickup was identified as 23-year-old Brandon Tusler of Welcome.
The statement indicates nine of the passengers on the bus were transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance or private party. Their injuries were described as minor.
It's not known if either driver was hurt.
The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation into the crash. The Wabasso Fire Department and Ambulance Service, CentraCare EMS, and North Memorial Ambulance also responded to the scene.
