Best Buy Closing 10-15 Stores. How Many In Colorado?

More closings are ahead as electronics giant Best Buy announced that sadly, 10-15 more of their stores will be closing for good this year. How many are in Colorado?

As a kid growing up in Colorado, we used to have so many different choices for electronics and music & movie stores. Circuit City, Service Merchandise, Media Play, SountTracl/Ultimate Electronics, Sam Goody, etc., but those have since all closed down for good over the years. The only one to survive all of the change is Best Buy.

Even though what they sell and how the stores are set up has changed over the years, including the recent discontinuation of selling hard copies of Blu-Rays and DVDs, they've been the only big store of its kind to keep the lights on this long.

With over 1,000 Best Buy stores across the country, they've found ways to remain in the game, but that doesn't come without sacrifices, including another forthcoming downsizing across the U.S.

Best Buy Closing Locations Including Colorado

During Best Buy's recent Q4 earning report, its CFO Matt Bilunas announced their intentions to close another 10-15 stores in 2024. What we wanted to know was which stores would be affected in Colorado.

While all the locations haven't been announced yet, we know that at least one in Colorado has been closed since the beginning of the month. The Best Buy location in Centennial, at the Streets of SouthGlenn Shopping Center, officially closed its doors as of March 10th, 2024.

Like most larger shopping centers, the Streets of SouthGlenn have lost many main anchors in the last few years, including Sears and Macy's, so Best Buy is the latest victim in the area.

As of this writing, the Centennial Best Buy location is the only one confirmed to have closed in Colorado. However, with how quickly that location closed, it wouldn't be a surprise to see other Colorado locations lock up shop. We currently have locations near us in Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and in Longmont.
