Whenever a new list of the most popular baby names comes out I wonder if it leads to more people naming their kids after any of the top ten choices or whether it turns people against those names because they're so popular.

Either way, Names.org is out with their projections for the Most Popular Baby Names in Iowa in 2023 based on Social Security Administration data on births and user interest on its website.

In the Hawkeye State, there's a holdover and a newbie at the top.

Let's start with ladies first, where there's movement all over the place as seven of the top ten names are expected to change places from last year.

At number one is Olivia, which makes the jump from second last time, knocking Charlotte off of her throne.

Elsewhere on the list, Sophia, Evelyn, Hazel, and Eleanor are up trending upward, with Hazel up an impressive five spots.

Emma had the biggest drop, from fifth to ninth.

Jack and Maverick are new to the top ten, each jumping four spots.

Hudson had the biggest drop, from seventh to ninth.
