Military Hero Visits Williquors for Bottle Signing
Williquors, on South Louise Avenue hosted a very special event Friday featuring Horse Soldier Bourbon. Fans and bourbon aficionados joined the bottle signing with Vince Makela, a Green Beret (Ret) from Horse Soldier Bourbon. Fans were thrilled to be able to purchase their very own Horse Soldier Bourbon including their standard lineup and single barrel selections.
Horse Soldier Bourbon is a premium bourbon produced by a group of former Green Berets who served in Afghanistan after 9/11, some on horseback. The brand's name and imagery draw inspiration from their service. The molds that make the labels of every bottle come from steel from the collapsed World Trade Centers on that fateful day of September 11, 2001.
Many have seen the film '12 Strong' accurately portraying the harrowing journey on horseback in Afghanistan directly into a Taliban stronghold.
And yes, the movie "12 Strong" is based on the true story of a US Army Special Forces team of Green Berets self-deployed to Afghanistan shortly after the 9/11 attacks, as detailed in the book "Horse Soldiers" by Doug Stanton. This action was later detailed in the blockbuster film “12 Strong,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and in numerous books and documentaries.
Vince Makela and his special forces team inspired a Hollywood movie and have served as an inspiration to many young men and women interested in an armed forces career.
On this sunny Friday, patriotism was alive and well at Williquors on S. Louise Ave as retired Army Sergeant Major Vince Makela—one of the first responders from the U.S. military to land in Afghanistan after 9/11and to sign bottles of Horse Soldier Bourbon.
