This Popular Salsa Is Being Recalled Across U.S.

This has been a tough couple of months for some of our favorite snack foods and for the company that makes them.

In May, Plano, Texas-based Frito-Lay announced it was voluntarily recalling Lay’s Classic Potato Chips distributed in four Northeast states due to 'undeclared milk ingredients'.

Now the company is pulling another one of its products off of store shelves, and this time the recall is nationwide.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling jars of Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dips because the products could contain an undeclared milk allergen due to a what's being called a 'manufacturing mishap'.

The recalled salsa is packaged in a glass jar, with a UPC barcode that ends in 0559 and a best before date of either November 2, 2023 or November 3, 2023.

Some of the impacted jars were sold as far back as April 5 of this year.

According to Frito-Lay, the front of the jars are correctly labeled as Tostitos Avocado Salsa, but the back of the jars are mislabeled with another product's nutrition information, which does not list the allergen milk.

This poses a potential threat to anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, who run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.

So far, no incidents have been reported.
