Starbucks Revamping Some Stores With New Look Inside, New Mugs
Changes are on the way to several Starbucks locations nationwide but they're not about what you taste, but rather what you see when you step inside for a visit.
The proposed updates are part of the company’s 'Back to Starbucks' strategy, which is an attempt to restore the brand’s image as a 'third place' between home and work by returning to its roots and creating a more personalized, welcoming coffeehouse experience.
According to a company press release, Starbucks is introducing new lounge chairs and redesigned ceramic mugs to encourage customers to spend more time inside its stores.
The lounge seating, inspired by the brand’s signature purple lounge chairs, launched globally in 1987, before being removed in 2008.
The redesigned porcelain mugs will feature a wider mouth and more comfortably shaped handles and will be available in white or deep green in all all beverage sizes.

The changes are part of the chain's 'Coffeehouse Uplift' which will invest about $150,000 per store and remodel 1,000 stores by the end of 2026.
Starbucks has not announced which specific locations will be in line for the updates.
Sioux Falls currently has 13 stand-alone locations and another eight inside hospitals and stores in the city.
