It's all part of the Mitchell Area Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce's effort to try and fill 600 job openings in the city.

Applications for the $1,000 relocation gift are being processed through the Move to Mitchell website.

There aren't a ton of restrictions to get the money but you must be relocating from out of South Dakota to qualify. You must also live and work full-time in the city.

The program is open to both renters and property owners.

Officials say that so far 17 new residents have taken advantage of the program.
