Kiss It Goodbye! Massive Minnesota Lottery Jackpot Goes Unclaimed

At about the same time someone in Minnesota was ringing in the new year with a $1 million winning lottery ticket, another North Star State resident was letting a massive jackpot slip through their fingers.

At midnight on December 31, a $1 million winning ticket from the 2024 Minnesota Millionaire Raffle officially went unclaimed and expired after one year. Minnesota Lottery officials say the ticket was sold at Coborn’s grocery store in Delano.

So what happens to the money? The prize goes into the state of Minnesota’s general fund.

Unclaimed prizes are more common than you might think. Nearly $18 million in prizes went unclaimed in 2023, though most were for far lesser amounts.
