After a weeklong competition, a new Miss South Dakota has been chosen. Miranda O'Bryan, originally from Martin, South Dakota (in the southwestern part of the state) won the $8,000 scholarship.

Miranda is a South Dakota State University graduate and works as a news anchor for KOTA Territory News/KEVN Black Hills Fox. She was the winner of the preliminary onstage conversation, picking up $500. Then she was also the overall interview award winner of $1,000.

O'Bryan's community service initiative is "Page Turners: Fall in Love with Reading" and she sang a jazz version of the Taylor Swift song "Blank Space" for her talent.

Miranda will go on to represent South Dakota at the Miss America competition in early 2024.

Twenty South Dakota women competed for the Miss South Dakota title and all of them won scholarships - -which totaled nearly $45,000.
