Walmart Recalls Berry Blend Amid E. coli Concerns
Consumers who recently purchased frozen berries from Walmart are being urged to check their freezers.
Walmart’s Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend is being recalled because of possible contamination with E. coli.
The recall affects 10-ounce bags of the frozen organic berry blend, which contains strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries.
While no illnesses have been linked specifically to the Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend, the recall is connected to a broader outbreak involving frozen organic blueberries from the same producer.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that 12 people have become sick in connection with the broader outbreak.
Because of the potential health risk, consumers are advised not to eat the recalled berries.
Anyone who has the affected product at home should dispose of it or return it to Walmart for a full refund.
Consumers should also avoid tasting the berries, even if they appear or smell normal, as contaminated food may not show obvious signs of spoilage.
If you have recently purchased frozen berries, take a moment to check your freezer before using them.
