Two people are behind bars, and another two are still uncounted for in a shooting incident that happened Monday night in Southwest Sioux Falls.

Dakota News Now is reporting the incident took place around 7:30 PM on (June 5) near the Empire Mall.

The two victims, an 18-year-old girl, and a 19-year-old guy were driving a vehicle located near the Empire Mall at the time the incident occurred. The four suspects in the case were in a separate vehicle that was chasing the victim's car.

Dakota News Now reports the victims told police the two vehicles passed each other, but nothing was said between the individuals in both cars. As the vehicles passed, one of the people inside the suspect's vehicle flashed a gun, which prompted the victims to attempt to leave the area immediately. The suspects continued to follow them in their car.

The police report states that authorities in the area of the Empire Mall received a call there was a vehicle in the vicinity of 14th Street and Regal Place that had come under fire from another car that was pursuing them.

According to Dakota News Now, witnesses reported seeing two men hanging outside of the suspect's vehicle firing guns in the direction of the victim's car. Two parked cars in the area were struck by bullets in the process. The owner of one of the parked cars was inside his vehicle at the time of the incident, while the other vehicle had a 3-year-old playing near it. Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from the gunfire.

The victims were able to eventually evade the suspects. Once they did, they discovered their vehicle had also been struck by gunfire and they notified authorities.

Police officers came across the suspect's vehicle in the 4900 block of West Equestrian. As they attempted to stop the car, a passenger inside got out and took off running. The driver of the vehicle then proceeded to ram the police car rendering it undrivable. The suspect on foot was eventually caught by one of the police officers in pursuit.

As Dakota News Now reports, additional officers patrolling the area spotted the suspect's vehicle in the vicinity of 12th Street and Marion Road a short time later. This time the vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested. The two remaining suspects from inside the car are still uncounted for at this time.

The two men in custody are 18-year-old Quintin Jackson from Sioux Falls and the driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Aaron Ramos of Sioux Falls.

Both men are being charged with an assortment of crimes that include Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number, Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, Fleeing Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Paraphernalia, among others.

Police investigating the incident were able to determine there was no connection between the two victims and the group of suspects.
