If you watched Super Bowl LIX last Sunday, you undoubtedly heard the name Cooper DeJean mentioned a time or two throughout the broadcast.

DeJean, an Iowa native had the day of his life last Sunday. Not only was the Philadelphia Eagles defensive back playing in what is widely considered the sports world's biggest game, the Super Bowl, but he was also playing in the Super Bowl as a rookie on his birthday! Oh, and did I mention he also picked off Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes for a touchdown?

That's what I call a day for the ages!

Believe it or not, DeJean was actually born right here in Sioux Falls on (February 9), 2003. But, he has spent the majority of his life growing up in the small farm town of Odebolt, Iowa. A town of 920 people, that once had the reputation of being the Popcorn Capital of the World, thanks to the rich, black soil surrounding the city, that's ideal for growing popcorn.

Ever since DeJean became a football star for his college team, the Iowa Hawkeyes the town of Odebolt caught DeJean fever. As you might imagine, that excitement level has now ratcheted to an entirely different level now that DeJean plays in the NFL for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

As Dakota News Now reports, DeJean fever was on full display last Sunday when the town of Odebolt hosted a Super Bowl watch party they dubbed the “Cooper Bowl.”

There were Cooper DeJean No.33 jerseys everywhere. The energy and excitement level were off the charts last Sunday in Odebolt, especially after the impact DeJean had on the game.

According to Dakota News Now, DeJean’s father, Jason, said that he was extremely touched by a video that school employees made featuring dozens of children and teachers wishing his son the best in the Super Bowl.

The Eagles selected DeJean during the second round of last year's NFL Draft. Ever since that day, those who know DeJean well, say it hasn't changed him one bit. He is still insanely humble, and he’s not going to forget where he came from.
