Sioux Falls Great Bear Ski Park Announces Opening Day...Hopefully

Because of all the warm winter weather, it's been a tough year to get things going at Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls.

Great Bear sent out an announcement saying they now have a New Target Opening Day.

That New Target Opening Day is Jan. 1, 2024

After an assessment of the current conditions and weather forecast Great Bear Ski Valley now hopes to open for skiing & snowboarding for the season on January 1, 2024.

The target opening date for tubing is January 6, 2024.

Great Bear General Manager Dan Grider stated, “We truly appreciate the patience of our guests as we all wait for colder weather. As soon as the temps drop, our snowmaking crew is ready to fire up the snow guns and run them 24/7.”

The lodge is open for guests to pick up season passes, buy gift cards or to answer any questions.

Before this South Dakota State Park was dedicated it had been more than 40 years since South Dakota had a new State Park. And this Sioux Falls green space is a gem!

Good Earth State Park is on the southeast edge of Sioux Falls right on the Iowa / South Dakota border.
