Iowa isn't necessarily the first place that comes to mind when thinking of states with the worst air quality. In fact, according to the World Population Review Website, the Hawkeye State has some of the best air quality in the entire country, coming in at number 8 on the latest rankings.

With that being said, some cities and towns in Iowa are far worse than others. This is due to various factors, including high levels of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, particle pollution, and ground-level ozone.

This is a recent look at cities and towns in Iowa with the worst air quality at present, according to the website, IQ Air. And a few of the places on this list might seem quite surprising.
