When thinking about notorious gang activity, South Dakota isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind. Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles hold that distinctive title. However, there is one ill-famed gang that operates within the state's borders, and it originally started in Minnesota.

This gang has an infamous and well-known reputation throughout the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota, and is responsible for countless crimes over the decades.

A gang that calls itself "The Native Mob" has been wreaking havoc in South Dakota for years but originally got its start in the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes back in the early 90s.

According to Google, the Native Mob has been one of the most deadly and dangerous gangs in South Dakota for decades.

The Native Mob is a Native American gang that is active in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. It is one of the largest and most violent Native American gangs in the United States. The gang originated in Minneapolis in the early 1990s. 

Gang members can be identified by: 

  • Wearing red and black clothing
  • Having tattoos that read "Native Mob" or incorporate Indian symbols such as a medicine wheel or a bear paw
The Native Mob's leader was sentenced to 43 years in prison.

After a high-profile shooting that took place in northern Minnesota around 15 years ago, the FBI has made a point of taking down the native mob, with varying degrees of success.
