We can never thank our active military and veterans enough for their service to our country. They have and are continuing to sacrifice their lives for our freedom. We owe everything to them.

To show our appreciation and support for our military, there are numerous businesses around the Sioux Empire offering special deals and discounts on Saturday, November 11th for active service members and veterans this Veterans Day. Casey's General Stores throughout South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota are even offering tasty deals for our veterans.

As a small token of appreciation, all Casey's General Stores will be offering a complimentary fountain drink or coffee of any size for veterans and active service members. To receive a refreshing beverage or a fresh cup of joe, veterans or active military must show a military ID or proof of service.

This is a simple gesture of kindness from all Casey's General Stores. But the Iowa-based gas station has a long history of supporting active military and veterans.

Throughout the month of November, Casey's is partnering with two non-profit organizations called Hope For The Warriors and Children of Fallen Patriots. According to a recent press release, guests at all Casey's General Stores can round up their total at the register to give back to Hope For The Warriors and Children of Fallen Patriots. That's not all!  Casey's lovers can also purchase a "20 oz. Pepsi, small Lays or Doritos, and a Mega Slice, and PepsiCo will donate $1 to the campaign." It's that simple to give back and to say thank you to our service men and women.

More details about the Veteran's Day and November specials at Casey's in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota can be found here.

Thank you, thank you to the men and women who fought for our country and who are continuing that fight. We will always salute you!

The Best Truck Stop Food in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota

One of the best parts of any road trip is a stop at a truck stop. Whether you call them, travel centers, convenience stores, or just a gas stations; these oases are so interesting and fun.

In the middle of nowhere, you find the island of pavement, pumps, and people; getting gas, some rest, and fuel for themselves, AKA some classic truck stop food.

I'm partial to a Love's Truck Stop. They are usually big and well-managed. And as a connoisseur of gas-station coffee, Love's is one of the best. Plus, they have some delicious hot dogs.

I'm not the only one that enjoys a stop at a truck stop for good eats. The food blog LoveFood.com dug through user reviews to find the best truck stop food in each state.
